Dr. Hasiyatu Abubakari
Dr. Hasiyatu Abubakari is a Research Fellow at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana at the Language, Literature, and Drama Section. She holds a Ph.D. in African Studies( Languages and Literatures) from the University of Vienna, Austria, and an MPhil in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Tromso in Norway. Her bachelor's degree is in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Ghana, Legon. Her research focuses on the minority languages of Northern Ghana and the cultures of speakers of these languages. She dedicates particular interest to the Kusaal language, its people, and culture. She has research that also looks at language and gender, folklore, and onomastics. Dr. Abubakari has published in reputable journals both locally and internationally. She is a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and an Assistant Editor of the Journal of West African Languages.
