Brief Profile

Edward A. Gborgbor is passionately known as Article by his friends. Edward has a lot of work experience because of working with different institutions. He has worked at Star Assurance Company Ltd as a sales representative, banker at Barclays Bank Ghana Ltd, Tema main branch, and as a record keeper at Ashaiman Health Centre during the national service period.

Edward has also undertaken a lot of research assignments in fields such as decentralization, conflicts, and inequalities in Ghana, a project funded by CRISE, University of Oxford chieftaincy and development, gender and institutional cultures of the University of Ghana, as part of a five-country research project on gender and the institutional cultures of African Universities Research project, African Association of Universities(AAU) sponsored study and gender, livelihood and land tenure in South Eastern and North Eastern Ghana, a project funded by the IDRC, Ottawa; promoting Decent Work for Women in the Banking and Domestic Sectors in Ghana, a project founded by IDRC & CRDI and many others.

Edward, therefore, holds an MBA in HR, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana respectively. He also attended Kpando Senior High School (S.S.S.C. E in General Agriculture, 1997), and Dadome L/A Junior High School (B.E.C.E 1994).

Edward is very enlightened about political issues and enjoys listening to political debates and arguments. He is of the view that politicians should eschew lies and strive to work for the general well-being of citizens. Thus, his favorite quotation: “He who benefits from corruption sees nothing wrong about it”.

Edward’s current position as a Principal Research Assistant at the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy (UG), requires him to assist in drawing questionnaires, collect both primary and secondary data (through interviews), interpret and analyze data, manage and update the resources at the Centre’s Resource Unit, compile gender and gender-related articles from dailies for the purpose of research, teaching, learning, advocacy and making gender policies.
