Dr. Aminatou Kone is an Associate Professor in Molecular Biology at the University of Sciences, Techniques, and Technologies of Bamako. She conducts research in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Genomics, and Parasitology and is involved in an ongoing project focused on studying Malaria resistance to artemisinin and partner drugs. Dr. Aminatou holds a master's degree in animal biology and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences and has been actively engaged in researching the epidemiology of malaria treatment resistance since 2002. After a MARCAD post-doctoral fellowship, she has improved her research abilities and achieved a university professorship. Her focus is, through leading the genomic unit at her research institution, to implement new generation techniques for disease surveillance. Her current research is focused on the comprehension of human and malaria parasite factors involved in resistance development in Africa.
