Brief Profile

Delali Margaret Badasu is an Associate Professor at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) and a member of the Inter-Faculty Working Group (IFWG) at the Centre for Migration Studies (CMS), both at the University of Ghana. Her broad research interests and publications are on population and health, population and development and migration and development. She holds a PhD in Geography and Resource Development, an M.A in Population Studies, and a B.A. in Economics/Geography from the University of Ghana. She also holds an M.A. in Geography from the University of Alberta, Canada. Her areas of specialization are Social Demography, Medical Geography, and Migration and Development. She has since November 2022 been a member of a team on a project titled “Africa-based Gender Technical Platform for Gender Responsive Malaria Advocacy and Policy”, being implemented by the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy (CEGENSA) at the University of Ghana and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

She has published a number of works on population and development and health-related issues. Her current research and publication are on population and socio-cultural dimensions of health, with focus on Ghana’s health policy and tertiary health care for children with noncommunicable diseases. She has also published on migration and development issues, particularly remittances.
